U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) has canceled his speaking appearance at the state Democratic Convention on Friday night in Milwaukee.
Graeme Zielinski, party spokesman, confirmed the cancellation and said the decision was Weiner's, and that the party's invitation to him was still good.
"It's understandable, considering what's going on," Zielinski added.
Weiner, an outspoken liberal voice in Congress, has been in the midst of a controversy over a photo of a male crotch in underpants sent to a female Twitter follower of his.
Weiner has denied sending the photo and says his Twitter account was hacked, but he has not denied the photo might be of him. The story has occupied much of the political world for the past few days.
Weiner was to be one of the main speakers at the convention, which starts today at the Frontier Airlines Center. Another main speaker: Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), chair of the Democratic National Committee.
Zielinski said Weiner "opted to stay in New York . .. with his family," and added, "We're looking forward to a visit in the future" from Weiner.

Did he SEND the photo
Did he call a CNN reporter a Jackass?
Did he call the cops on Marcia Kramer of CBS?
His smart ass attitude has caught up with him. He is TRYING to be cool by his stupid little jokes but...it is OBVIOUS he is going nowhere with this but deeper into the frey.
If he is innocent he should ask for an investigation. If he is innocent...why doesn’t he just go on with his speech at the Demo Convention on Friday night??? After all, he would be among “friends” wouldn’t he???? What’s he afraid of????

Speaking of some serious problems in Milwaukee, local party boss Graeme Zielinski says the invitation to Weiner is still good ~ oblivious to the fact Weiner was cruising for underage girls on Twitter.
Sounds like the Eric Dahmer left some friends behind and the same sort of moral corruption he took advantage of.
